The company was founded in 1986. In 2002 Kay H. Kohlhepp, newly appointed managing shareholder, shifted the Kohlhepp Media Consultancy GmbH’s main business focus decisively towards the media sector.
Kay H. Kohlhepp has all the degrees to work as a fully qualified lawyer, was with Gruner+Jahr for ten years in Germany, France and Great Britain, working in leading positions in the newspaper and magazine branches. In between he also completed a one-year training course at the journalism school of G+J/Prisma Press in Paris. Following the three-year period when he acted as publisher of two magazines in London, he was then chief executive of a German internet company. He was able to contribute both a wealth of experience and an excellent contact base (details of his CV can be found here).
The company offers consultancy services exclusively to media companies –established and young, German and international ones.
The consultancy services given to established media companies are generally concentrated on the buying and selling of companies, titles and company divisions as well as on cooperations. Thus we have been and continue to be contracted, on either the buyer or seller side, to assist in – for example – transactions of B2C or SI magazines.
Additionally we represent the interests of clients in English- and French-speaking countries.
We assist foreign media companies, especially those which operate on behalf of German media enterprises, with their market entry and with consultancy services for the clients which they thereafter win. We are currently working with iAnnounce Ltd., Localstars Ltd. and The Dating Lab Ltd., all of which are based in London.
We also advise a few young media companies, chosen using strict criteria, in the areas of strategy, finding investors, and marketplace. At the moment these include tredition GmbH and the German-French book publishers Les Editions du Crieur Public GmbH, in both pf these companies the shareholder of this company owns shares.
